Every now and again we have a good day.
This spring, we learned that Excelon qualified for Inc 5000 award list, just about exactly ten years to the day from when we published our vision to get us there — Tomorrow’s Excelon Development. We spent ten years as President Roosevelt recommended, doing the work and helping others do it. Then, one day, we looked up, and noticed that our numbers qualified for this years list.
That’s nice, but what exactly is the Inc. 5000?
Inc. Magazine is the magazine for small, privately-held business in the United States. For the greater part of a decade our managing director, Matt Heusser, devoured every issue, especially the annual top 5000 issue. The companies that make that list – the Inc 5,000 – are the 5,000 fastest growing privately held companies in the United States, based on growth in sales over a three-year period. Past inc 5,000 winners include Under Amour, Facebook, Microsoft, Chuck E Cheese, Toys R Us, 7/11, and Zappos.com. The growth rate for the the 2022 companies varies from a little over 50% annually to 157,000% annually. The minimum for year one is $100,000 US — so no, you can’t earn a penny in year one and five thousand dollars in year three and qualify.
Excelon did not only qualify, but we made the list, in the top half.
It is with more than a little humility that we announce Excelon is an Inc 5000 2023 honoree, taking slot #2083. Humility, because Excelon is a contract company, and contracts end. Some of the people who worked with us in 2022 and helped make the company have such a wonderful year have had to move on to become Alumni.
